Introduction

Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) group at SPARC laboratory was established by Dr.Hastak in 2006. The DRR group at SPARC is involved in various areas of research such as impact of disasters on critical infrastructure (including civil, civic, social, financial, environment and education) in terms of loss in service, vulnerability, severity and the capacities required to make a community more resilient.
Within this context, DRR group is working on protection of critical infrastructure, enhancing resilience of a community, assessing social and economic impacts on communities and industries, capacity building of communities for expediting recovery, effective debris removal management system, sustainability issues in drought conditions and disaster finance and policy issues.
