The Bureau of Labor and Statistics (BLS) from US Department of Labor releases data on injuries, illnesses, and fatalities for each industry section. This data is released annually and is based on the BLS annual Survey of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses (SOII). Data covers 44 participatory states including the District of Columbia and includes data from Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) logs of workplace injuries, illnesses and fatalities. In order to observe the trends rate of national to construction indices can be calculated for nonfatal and fatal incident rates. This ratio can illuminate the status of the industry compared to national averages. The graph below shows the trend of safety (as an average of fatal and non-fatal rates), normalized based on the reference point of December 2013. For further information on the safety please refer to Specific Analysis reports.
